Given two points and four lines in general position in space, there are four conics which pass through
the points and meet the lines. The remainder of this page documents counting the number
of real conics through the three sets of points and lines provided in the paper.
Directions
Before you begin, you will need to have a working binary of
alphaCertified on your machine.
We present the computation for one of the three sets of points and lines and provide the files for the others below.
- Save the files polySys_2real and points_2real in the same directory.
- Execute the command
      >   alphaCertified polySys_2real points_2real
from the directory.
- Here is the output displayed to the screen. Perusing it, we see that alphaCertified does certify that there are 2 real and 2 nonreal solutions.
