Felicitas is an opentype font based on a redrawing of Eric Gill's design for Perpetua.

OpenType technology provides the designer new design opportunities. A given letterform in a font may have ten or more different drawings depending on its context.

The OpenType format allows the definition of font features - rules that change the standard behavior of the font. For example, some features are:

• automatic ligature substitution
• context-dependent substitutions of letterforms
• language dependent substitutions
• letterform kerning

Not all software support OpenType features. The font still can be used however. See example at right. Currently the following software can :

• Adobe InDesign version 2 and CS (3)
• Adobe Illustrator CS (11)
• Adobe Photoshop CS (8)

Other software will follow soon.

Adobe InDesign makes automatic glyph subsitutions for th, fu, and gy letterform combinations. The subsitution does not interfere with spell check.
