Announcements

There has been some problem with the display of grades for PHIL 201 on Minerva. Even if you can see a final grade, the odds that what you see is not correct are fairly good. Please wait several days for this to be corrected before contacting me, or your TA, about your grade.

Thanks for your patience, and apologies for the confusion.

Conference assignments and room assignments are available in PDF form here.

Grading & assignments: As announced in class, there will be four graded assignments, the values of which will be as follows: a short initial paper (10%), a midterm (30%), a final exam (30%), and a 5 page paper to be handed in between the midterm and the final. Due dates for assignments will be posted here as they are decided.

Short paper: due in conferences, Friday, January 21. Details available here.

Midterm:the midterm will be held at the regular class time on Wednesday, February 16. It will consist of (probably) three essay questions, which will ask you to explain and briefly evaluate arguments from the readings and lectures. If you cannot make it on Wednesday the 16th, there will be a make-up exam held on Friday, February 18. The place and time of that make-up exam will be announced soon. In order to take the exam on Friday, you must e-mail me by Tuesday, February 8 and explain why you cannot make the Wednesday exam.

5 page paper: details available here.

Final exam: Monday, April 25, 9 am. Place TBA.
