For the hypothetical data contained in Table 14.1, Table 14.3 gives the
set of D variables. The D variables are subsequently used to analyze the
data given in Table 14.1. Because we analyzed the data contained in Table
14.1 directly by making use of the Repeated Measures procedures, 
performing analyses on the D variables themselves is unnecessary.
For the hypothetical data contained in Table 14.4, Table 14.5 gives 
an appropriate set of D variables. The D variables are subsequently 
used to analyze the data given in Table 14.4. Because we analyzed the
data contained in Table 14.4 directly, by making use of the Repeated 
Measures procedures, performing analyses on the D variables themselves 
is unnecessary. The D variables are given in the text for pedagogical 
and computational reasons. However, if one were interested in 
analyzing the data from Table 14.3, because there are only two levels 
of both factors, PROC TTEST could be used.
