7. Typical scenario at Florida Citrus Community College:

   You have a 6000 word Gordon Rule paper due at 8:00 a.m. Monday morning. You have been working on this paper for two weeks in the college's open computer lab. You have been using Word 97. The paper is now 15 pages long. You have been working all day the Saturday before from 8:00 am till closing at 4:30. You are the typical commuter student who does not know anyone at the College. At 4:25 you are the last person in the lab, the lab tech is shutting down the machines and you need about three more hours to finish. The College's lab does not open again till 8:00 am Monday. You do not know anyone with a computer, except your brother-in-law across town who does not use Microsoft products, does not have a word processor on his machine ( because he only plays games on his machine ). He is also not connected to the Internet. You are in tears, because professor Z does not accept late work. Without the completed paper you will receive an automatic 'F' grade. The lab tech is in a hurry, but is sympathetic and gives you his home-made CD-ROM disk with Office 97. He asks you to bring it back Monday. What should you do?

   • do not use the program and not complete your assignment.
   • install the program on you brother-in-laws machine, finish your paper, delete the program when you have completed the paper.
   • use your brother-in-laws re-writable CD-ROM drive that he uses to copy his friends' game programs, copy the disk and keep the copy so that you may use the disk for future papers.
   • make several copies of the disk, keep one for your self, and sell it to fellow students who also have trouble with the limited college lab hours.
