The Question Mark Nebula is composed of two separately-designated nebulae. The top of the question mark is NGC 7762 and the dot below is SH2-170. In both cases bright new stars are exciting interstellar gas molecules. The bluish glow is from oxygen and the red is from hydrogen. Dark dust lanes are also visible in the image. |
