Calculators are not allowed in all exams and quizzes in this course. However, you may use it for the of the homework problems when numbers get nasty.
The emphasis of the course is on analysis (synthesis of information) so most of the time numbers are very manageable. Algebric manipulation and arithmetic are expected in the process of problem-solving. You can review Algebra skill essential to the course at Prerequisite Information.
Any scientific calculator is already enough for the class. A graphing calculator (like those from TI or HP) will do way more than needed and we do not recommend using any fancy graphing functions to solve a problem or guess an answer. So a TI-83 or TI-84 will be more than enough. |
