Jacques Maritain Center
The College of the Sorbonne, the first founded in the
University of Paris, dated from 1253, St. Thomas's time. It
presupposed the degree in Arts, and presented for degrees in
Theology only. There is an interesting and amusing account of
the Sorbonne at the end of the eighteenth century by a
Licentiate of the same, an émigré Priest,
Mémoires de l'Abbé Baston.
