Text: Introduction to Linear Algebra by Gilbert Strang, Wellesley-Cambridge Press 1993 Homework:Homework will be assigned daily and will be due the next class period. Moreover, reading from the textbook will be assigned for every class. I will call randomly on students to help with the presentation of the material in class. Tests: There will be three one hour tests and a final examination. They also may be occasional unannounced quizzes. The schedule of tests is as follows: Test 1 Monday, 9/29 Test 2 Wednesday, 10/29 Test 3 Monday, 11/24 Final examination Thursday, 12/18, 7:30 - 9:30 PM The exams are given during the class period. The place of the final examination will be announced later. The final examination will be comprehensive and the same for both section Honor code: All Notre Dame students are bound by the Notre Dame Honor Code Students may cooperate and consult books and notes, while working on their homework, but mustn't copy others work or submit work done by others. The use of books, notes, etc. and communication with others is not allowed during tests and quizzes. Grading: Each test will be worth 100 points and the final 150 points. Homework will be contribute up to 50 points. Missing homework assignments will carry a penalty of 5 points. Attendance: You are expected to attend all class meetings. Excessive absences may result in lowering the grade or even failing the class. Make up tests or quizzes will be given only if the absence is excused. The schedule of tests is known early enough, and travel arrangement should be made so that they do not interfere with tests. e-mail: Be sure your e-mail address is active.
