Our 18-member council operates with an executive board, representatives from each business major and members from each class year. The full council meets weekly, and individual members lead initiative committees according to their interests.

The MSLA’s mantra “Ask More. Do More. Be More.” envelopes all of its endeavors. MSLA has celebrated many accomplishments, and has several more initiatives in the queue.

Peer Mentor Program

Business Club Directory

Undergraduate Research

Connects sophomore business students with senior business students. Senior mentors provide guidance and advice in a candid and informal setting for choosing majors, applying for internships, and succeeding in Mendoza.  The program has 27 mentors who represent all of the majors within the Mendoza College of Business. Sophomores are encouraged to visit the Peer Mentoring page on the MSLA website to find a mentor who matches their areas of interest. The sophomores are responsible for setting up meetings with the senior mentors via email. If interested in this initiative, contact Casey Spreen at cspreen@nd.edu

This directory will list all business related clubs and initiatives that students can get involved with and will include a clear description of what each organization is, what it does, how to get involved, and who to contact for questions. If interested, contact Mary Lopez at mlopez11@nd.edu

The Undergraduate Research initiative works on uniting undergraduate students with professors involved in academic research. Undergraduate students will provide valuable assistance to professors while gaining useful experience in a subject matter. Students will also gain first-hand knowledge of the academia industry. If interested, contact Jonathan Gordon at jgordon4@nd.edu

Marketing, Promotion, Web Development

Cross College Collaboration/ Career Center

Apparel & Marketing Resources

An idea is only as good as the number of people it affects positively, so the goal of the marketing team is to reach as many people as possible via social media sites, as well as make sure that the current Association website is updated on a regular basis and perhaps transitioned to a more future-friendly platform (away from the pricey Adobe Muse). The Marketing team will be in direct contact with other initiative leaders to offer promotion help to draw students to initiatives. For more information please contact Anastasia Evanich at aevanich@nd.edu or Freddie Stavins at fstavins@nd.edu

MSLA seeks to become a direct link between the Career Center and the students of the Mendoza College of Business.  Through joint promotions of key career events, as well as representing the student body at employer meetings, MSLA will serve as a student voice to continue to help strengthen this integral part of Notre Dame. While serving as the student leadership group for Mendoza, MSLA believes it is equally as important to collaborate with the other colleges of the university.  This will allow for a channel to share opportunities and ideas which are usually primarily focused within each individual college. For more information, contact Andrew Borchert at aborcher@nd.edu.

After a successful T-shirt design in the fall, we are hoping to gather student feedback on what apparel item to order, then we will design the item and distribute it to students. Upcoming initiatives will focus on increasing the amount and variety of Marketing career resources available to Marketing majors in Mendoza. MSLA reps will be working Chair Dr. Ganesan, various professors, and the Notre Dame Career Center to expand the opportunities for students seeking careers in Marketing. For more information, contact Fiona Wilkie at fwilkie@nd.edu.

Mendoza Happy Hour

Coding Workshops

Road Less Traveled

Happy Hours will serve as an opportunity for students to chat with Mendoza faculty, staff, and peers at local hangouts like O'Rourkes and Brothers. Free appetizers and drink specials will be featured and all Mendoza students are welcome to attend, though a valid photo ID will be required for the purchase of alcoholic beverages. If interested, contact Mary Lopez at mlopez11@nd.edu

Computer technology is the language of the future. Whether you major in Accounting or IT Management, the chance is high that you will encounter some form of computer coding in your workplace. These coding workshops will give Mendoza students more exposure to different types of coding languages they may encounter in the workplace. These workshops serve to help students learn the basics behind many of the popular coding languages being used in the business world today. The goal is to help students understand the logic behind coding programs and give them a competitive advantage in the workplace. For more information contact Donna Vu at dvu@nd.edu

The Road Less Traveled Series gives students an opportunity to be exposed to certain career industries outside of the normal job spectrum. Most students are unaware of the ever growing possibilities in specific industries such as sports, hospitality, retail, and even start up organizations. The objective of this program is to allow students to hear first hand accounts from peers, as well as professionals of these unique industries about the tools and skills necessary to make a career possible. While the initiative seeks to enlighten students on the ideas around a possible career in one of these industries, it also aims for more students to think outside the box of normalcy and truly chase after their true passions in life. Dinner with Professors

In February, MSLA teamed up with Brian Levey to promote Ethics Week. As ethics is at the core of Mendoza, be on the lookout for one event per month this year and all of next year to keep ethics at the forefront of Mendoza events. Could include a speaker, movie series, ethics game night, etc. If interested, contact Kevin Frost at kfrost2@nd.edu

With the departure of Entrepreneurship as a major option, MSLA reps will be looking to keep students informed about current events in the field such as hackathons, opportunities for internships in Silicon Valley, startups, etc.

For more information, contact Hind Ourahou at hourahou@nd.edu.

The Dinners With Professors Initiative was first proposed in 2014 and its purpose is to bring students and professors together outside of the classroom. Students will be given the opportunity to enter themselves into a raffle to have dinner with a predetermined professor within Mendoza and each week, five or six students will be chosen at random from the pool of applicants to have dinner with that professor.

If interested, contact Charlie Russell at crussel6@nd.edu

Happy Hour at O'Rourkes will be continuing this spring.

Eleven dinners with Professors took place this past February.
