Discrete Fourier and Wavelet Transforms

2017 Abel Prize awarded to Yves Meyer
“for his pivotal role in the development of the mathematical theory of wavelets.”

Wavelets were used in the detection of gravitational waves, which was awarded the 2017 Nobel Prize in physics.

Wavelets are now being used in art history, conservation and restoration.
