One of our current studies examines the best ways to direct children's attention to math problems during instruction. The study provides 3rd graders with a unique opportunity to receive a math lesson one-on-one with a trained tutor from Notre Dame. Children participate in one 30-40 minute session with the tutor. During the session, they receive instruction on a math concept that is important for future math achievement. The math session is offered free of charge to all children who participate. Parents receive a small payment to cover the costs associated with travel to the lab, and children receive a small gift after the session.
