in Clonakilty to his brother John in Illinois.
Clonakilty
February 17, 69
My dear brother we received
Your kind and welcome letters
and the sum of nine pounds
Dear Brother I wrote you a
letter on the 3rd of January
and we were expecting a letter
every day until we were in-
formed by Michal Garrets that
you did not recieve it we are
getting ready for the 9 [?] of us for to
sail off on the 10th of March
and we will have the pleasure
we hope of seeing you before
the month is ended
The steam ship Minnisotta
or the Queen the Guion
Line it is said it is the best
[--p. 2--]
The two vessels are comming
in on the 10th and one the 11th
and we don't know on which
of them will we sail and
we will feel very happy for some
of the neighbors are going with
us You need not waste any
other letters for we would not
have it before we would go
I hope this will find you in
as good a health as this leaves us
and all the parish at present
thanks be to God for his mercy
to us all.
So no more at present
from your dear brothers and
sisters
Daniel Donovan
The Guion Line was a
British passenger service operating between Liverpool-Queenstown-New York from
1866 to 1894. The Minnesota was operated by Guion from 1867-1875, after which
it was sold to the Warren Line.
