    Reverse: SIT NOMEN DOMINI BENEDICTUM + 1767

    Weight:  170.0 g   (11.01 grams)                  Diameter:  28.3 mm

    Comments:  This is a counterstamped version of Krause-Mishler, under the heading, "French Colonies" number KM 6. On the circulation and value of these coins see the introduction. The obverse bears the mintmark A for Paris, this central area was damaged during the counterstamping. The initials below stand for the king, Louis XV. The reverse legend translates as "Blessed is the name of the Lord." Within the central wreath were three fleurs de lys counterstamped with a beaded oval containing the letters RF (for République Française).

The obverse bears the mintmark A for Paris, this central area was damaged during the counterstamping. The initials below stand for the king, Louis XV. On this example the counterstamp is weak and the fleurs de lys are visible.
