1792 Half Disme of 1792
Obverse: LIB. PAR. OF SCIENCE & INDUSTRY. [below bust is the date1792].
Reverse: UNI. STATES OF AMERICA HALF / DISME [with star
below]
Weight: 20.4 g (1.32 grams) Diameter: 1.73 mm
Comments: These coins were made with a beaded border and a diagonally reeded edge. On the obverse note that the 2 of the date leans to the left. On the reverse there appears to be a very small die crack behind the eagle's left talon (seen as a dot). This example had a hole at 12:00 o'clock, destroying the end of the L, the entire I and the start of the B in LIB as well as the very top of Liberty's hair on the obverse and destroying the OF on the reverse. This hole has been repaired and the damaged areas restored. Provenance: From the Robert H. Gore, Jr. Numismatic Collection.
