Visiting Scholar Opportunities

The Center encourages inquiries from scholars who would like to spend a period of time at the University engaged in research as visiting fellows at the Center. Although the Center does not currently have funds to provide stipends for such appointments, office space, the use of a computer, and full access to the University libraries can normally be presumed. Visiting fellows are invited to participate in conferences, research seminars, reading groups, and all other activities sponsored by the Center. In recent years, faculty and advanced graduate students from other institutions both here and abroad have been hosted at the Center. Such scholars-in-residence typically utilize sabbatical leaves, research grants, or postdoctoral awards to support their stays.

Previous and Current Visiting Scholars include:

Marvin Bolt, Director of History of Astronomy Department, Adler Planetarium &
Astronomy Museum
Kristian Camilleri, University of Melbourne, Australia
Miguel deAsua, Universidad Nacional de San Martin, at Buenos Aires, Argentina
Veronika Hofer, University of Vienna
Justus Lentsch, Institute for Science & Technology Studies, Bielefeld University
Kevin Passino, The Ohio State University
HsingChi VonBergman, University of Calgary

Those who are interesting in becoming a Visiting Scholar should contact the Director of the Center, Gerald McKenny (gmckenny@nd.edu)
