Shamrock Leadership
Series Mission Statement
The Shamrock Leadership
Series engages members of the Notre Dame community
in creating and sustaining a culture of lifelong
leadership development, training, and education. SLS seeks
to empower students to become everyday leaders by
facilitating and encouraging opportunities for
co-curricular learning, intentional engagement,
self-reflection, and skill development. We believe in
developing visionary, goal-driven, and action-oriented
student leaders.
Registration will be sent out at the
end of November 2018.
Participants in the SLS will:
- Participate in interactive workshops to
gain greater understanding of leadership concepts
- Become familiar with the many
opportunities to become engaged in campus activities at
Notre Dame during and after the program has ended.
- Understand leadership topics in context
of personal experiences and goals.
- Connect leadership with service to
social justice.
The First-Year
Institute
The First-Year Institute
is the foundation course of the Student Activities
Office’s Shamrock Leadership Series, focusing on
individual leadership skills. Students will learn to
identify, strengthen, and expand their capacity for
leadership within the framework of the University of Notre
Dame’s Catholic teachings and legacy.
The Sophomore
Institute
The Sophomore Institute
is the second course of the Student Activities Office’s
Shamrock Leadership Series, focusing on civic engagement:
working to make a difference in our communities and
developing the combination of knowledge, skills, values,
and motivation to make that difference. Apply for the
Sophomore Leadership Institute to learn how you can be
more civic minded and begin making a difference in the
South Bend Community.
The Junior
Institute
The Junior Institute is
the third course of the Student Activities Office’s
Shamrock Leadership Series, focusing on utilizing career-focused
leadership skill sets from all disciplines in order
to compliment the holistic education and mission-centered
experiences at the University of Notre Dame.
The Capstone
Institute
The Capstone Institute provides
graduating students the opportunity to serve as Senior
Leadership Mentors to participants in the First-Year
Institute, focusing on facilitation skills and mastery of
leadership principles. Students will learn to identify,
strengthen, and expand their capacity for leadership
within the framework of the University of Notre Dame’s
Catholic teachings and legacy.
