Detailed Presentation Information
We ask that the presentations be prepared and presented in a professional
manner. Presenters are asked to dress professionally. Since the audience
will consist of persons representing all disciplines within
the Aero-Mechanical department and out of department guests, it is important
to design a presentation capable of holding everyone's interest.
We recommend that the presenters incorporate the following suggestions:
- Speak clearly and to the audience, not the wall, floor, etc.
- Give a simple overview of your subject for those who are not
familiar with it.
- Minimize 'overcrowded' or 'equation dominated' slides.
- If you present slides with text make sure that the size of the
type is large enough to be read from the back of the room. In general
nothing smaller than 17 pt should be used.
- Rehearse your presentation beforehand. Time yourself during your
rehearsal since the time limits will be strictly enforced.
- Provide a quick summary of your presentation at the end.
The presentations are either 14+4 minutes or 10+3 minutes in length
depending on your year of study (see Time Framing for details). We will require that you allow at
least three minutes for questions and answers. If you wish to have more time for the question and answer period you may shorten your talk by the required amount.
The conference schedule for the upcoming conference is available now.
Review the program and make sure the information pertaining to your
presentation is correct. Cash awards will be given for the best presentations as voted on by the audience.
All students are expected to attend the entire conference.
