My research focuses broadly on a variety of systems challenges, with recent focus on smart healthcare, crowdsensing, mobile/wearable computing, wireless networks (including sensor and vehicular networks), embedded systems, speech/signal processing, resource-efficiency of computing systems, and analytics of sensor data. My students are part of the Mobile Computing Lab (M-Lab), I am an Associate Director of the Lucy Family Institute for Data and Society, and Founding Director of the Applied Analytics and Emerging Technologies Lab (AeTL), which collaborates with Notre Dame's iNDustry Labs effort on research challenges to assist businesses in the South-Bend Elkhart Region to automate their traditional manufacturing and industrial practices using modern smart technologies. I am also member of the Notre Dame Advanced Diagnostics and Therapeutics (AD&T) initiative at Notre Dame, the Center for Civic Innovation, and the Pulte Institute for Global Development.
