Algebraic Number Theory
Sage is an open source computer algebra system that is excellent for experimentation and research. We will explore numerous aspects of algebraic number theory using it.
Please try it out. Sage can be downloaded and installed on any computer, but it can also be tried online (you may register for a free account).
If you have used Python before you will have no trouble with Sage as it is based on Python. If you have never used Python before or if you have never programmed before, you may find an excellent source for tutorials at the Sage tour. In particular, William Stein, the creator of Sage and author of our textbook, has a series of videos introducing Sage.
