OUTREACH

During the past year, our research group has hosted Ms. Courtney Morin from Trinity High School at Greenlawn (South Bend, Indiana). Courtney has been “shadowing” PhD graduate student Elizabeth Koeman in obtaining exposure and detailed understanding of all of the microanalytical techniques being used in our nuclear forensics research, such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and laser ablation-ICP-MS analysis. Courtney was also extremely eager to learn more about mineralogy/geology and has also become an expert at manipulating a petrographic microscope and identifying minerals in thin sections!
