TRAVEL TO COLLECTIONS

Deadline: None; applications are considered upon submission
Eligibility: Faculty and advanced graduate students from other institutions whose research would benefit from on-site access to the collections. Some restrictions apply to non-US citizens (Please see application process below).
Stipend: Up to $750
Description:

The William and Katherine Devers Program in Dante Studies provides up to $750 to support researchers who wish to consult Italian Studies related collections at the University of Notre Dame.

These collections include the University's historic John A. Zahm Dante Collection and the Ambrosiana Archive, which contains positive and negative microfilms of all 12,000 manuscripts in the Biblioteca Ambrosiana in Milan; photographs and negatives of 10,000 drawings and 30,000 manuscript illuminations; and 8,000 color slides of drawings and illuminations.

Application:

Interested parties should submit the following:

  1. A cover letter which briefly explains the nature of the proposed research, proposed dates, estimated cost of travel and lodging and contact information.

  2. For non US residents: photocopies of Visa and supporting documents.

    (Please note that we are unable to reimburse B2 Visa holders. Applicants with an F1 Visa must have an employment authorization card and B1 Visa holders are eligible for reimbursement of travel expenses. Applicants with a J1 Visa can be fully reimbursed for any travel or lodging expenses.)
