Student Association for Women in Architecture
Welcome to the website for the SAWA at the University of Notre Dame! We are a student club open to both undergraduates and graduates in the School of Architecture who support the presence of women and seek to promote gender equality and diversity in the design and construction industries. SAWA was founded in 2007 by undergraduate students Mollie Ponto and Danielle Potts through a grant from the Beverly Willis foundation. We meet several times a semester with faculty to discuss current topics relating to the field, foster inter-class mentoring relationships between students, and host professional development workshops.
In April 2013, we will be co-hosting a conference with the Notre Dame School of Architecture celebrating 40 years of female graduates from the university, particularly those who have utilized their architecture degree in unique and inspiring ways to lead them to a variety of career paths "beyond the drafting board". To find out more about the conference or events we have held this past year, check out our events page.
