Some Sample Exams
Though Math 328 has not been taught before, it has much overlap with
Math 323 for the first 2/3rds of the course and Math 324 for the last
1/3rd of the course. Below are some sample exams and worked exams from Math 323.
In class I will point out which problems are on material not in this course
(and may therefore be ignored).
rutherford.mws, A Maple Worksheet on the
Poisson distribution and the chi-square goodness-of-fit
test: Rutherford's Geiger Count Data.
studentDistribution.mws, A Maple
Worksheet showing the Student Distribution approaching the standard
normal distribution as the degrees of freedom approaches infinity.
typeIIerror.mws, A Maple
Worksheet showing computing type II error and giving power curves for
the null hypothesis H_0: p=1/2 and alternative hypothesis H_a: p not
equal 0. Attention is paid to the type II error
when p=21/41, the probability of a newborn being a boy.
weldon.mws, A Maple
Worksheet computing the goodness-of-fit of some of the Weldon
dice data to the binomial distribution.
