MORALITY in the Age of the Net

We surveyed 25 Notre Dame students along with 25 Notre Dame parents to get their views on regulation of the Internet.  Here are some of the results from the survey:

Question: There is a public standard of morality and it should be applied to the Internet - Yes or No?

                        - 68% of Notre Dame Students agree

                        - 40% of Notre Dame parents agree   

Question: Have you visited a website you believe your parents would deem "age inappropriate" at the time of the visit?

                        - 56% of Notre Dame students answered Yes

                        - 44% of Notre Dame students answered No

Question: Have you ever talked to your children about "inappropriate content" on the Internet?

                        - 56% of Notre Dame parents answered Yes

                        - 44% of Notre Dame parents answered No

Question: In the future, do you plan to monitor your own children on the Internet?

                        - 76% of Notre Dame students answered Yes

                        - 24% of Notre Dame students answered No
