This course is based on the book “Applied Calculus for the Managerial, Life, and Social Sciences” by S. Tan. Homework is an important part of the course and you must do it via WebAssign. This requires that you register for this course with WebAssign and that you purchase access to the course from them. The bookstore will sell you access or you can pay WebAssign directly via credit card or PayPal. Homework access comes with an electronic copy of the book for the semester so if this is adequate for your needs you need not purchase a copy of the book. You may even register for the course and try it for free for about two weeks but you must purchase access before the end of the grace period (Tue. Jan. 31).
Please register for this class as soon as possible after Tue. Jan. 17. The menu item “REGISTER FOR HOMEWORK” will walk you through the process. When you are ready to purchase access, Student Quick Start Guide will explain what you need to do. Detailed information for working on your homework can be found via the menu item “Doing an assignment”.
The “Schedule” menu leads to the due dates for the homework.
The “WebAssign Help” menu leads to various help options for WebAssign.
The “Book Information” menu leads to suggestions for what is needed to be purchased for this course.
Your Homework will count for 50 points out of a total of 500 points for the course.
If you do no homework, B+ is the best grade you can achieve.
With no practice in doing the problems, even B+ is extremely unlikely.
Late Homework will not be accepted since homework may be done early and from any location
in the world with internet access.
In particular, an excused absence for a prearranged trip off campus
is not an excuse for late homework.
If your personal computer isn't working, there are computer labs
on campus you can use.
They close around 10 or 11 so don't wait until the last minute.
