Genotype-Phenotype Relationships
This is the traditional work of the Ferdig laboratory. We have established the tools and computational framework to map the genetic architecture of complex drug and growth traits of malaria parasites. Our approach has been to apply new technologies and analytical innovations to traditional QTL mapping (see also Structural genomics and Genetical genomics sections below). This work remains our foundation, with an expanding database of 80 highly replicated drug responses, 12 physiological and growth traits, genome-wide expression and metabolite levels, along with structural/sequence variants for progeny clones from 3 genetic crosses and outbred populations.
