Metrology Equipment

  • Prism Coupler
  • Manufacturer:
    Headway Research, Inc.
  • Contact Prof. Doug Hall for operating instructions.

Description

The Prism Coupler is used to measure the thickness and the refractive index of dielectric materials. It can also measure the scattering loss in optical wavequides. These measurements are done at 4 different wavelengths.

Allowed Materials

Semiconductor-based materials and dielectric films.

Prohibited Materials

Organics and liquids of any kind.

Cleaning procedure

Samples to be used in the metrology equipment should be free of greases, oils, fingerprints, and particles. If necessary, samples should be cleaned in solvents, followed by DI rinse and N2 blow dry. Particular attention should be paid to the back side of the sample.
