Engineering Advisory Council Member to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award William D. Mensch Jr., a member of
the College of Engineering’s Advisory Council, received the Lifetime
Achievement Award from his alma mater, the University of Arizona’s
College of Engineering in December 2005. Mensch, who is the founder,
chairman, and chief executive officer of The Western Design Center in
Mesa, Az., designed the 6502 microprocessor, which was recognized at
COMDEX ’96 as one of seven microprocessors having the most impact
on information technologies to date.
