Yifei
Dai, a graduate
student in the Tissue Mechanics Laboratory, received an honorable
mention in the master’s student category for her research,
which was presented at the Summer Bioengineering Conference in Vail,
Colo., in June 2005. The event, attended by more than 800 people,
was sponsored by the Bioengineering Division of the American Society
of Mechanical Engineers. Dai is studying the mechanics of lumbar
interbody spinal fusions using computational modeling. According
to her faculty advisor, Glen L. Niebur, assistant professor of aerospace
and mechanical engineering, her work is supported by the University’s
Graduate School and the U.S. Center for Disease Control. |
