Brennecke Elected Chair of the Council for Chemical Research

Joan F. Brennecke, the Keating-Crawford Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Notre Dame, has been elected to chair the Council for Chemical Research (CCR). The chair is responsible for supervision all the business of the CCR and presiding at all meetings of the governing board. Brennecke has served on the governing board since 2003.

The CCR is based in Washington, D.C., and its mission is “to benefit society by advancing research in chemistry, chemical engineering, and related disciplines through leadership collaboration across discipline, institution, and sector boundaries” CCR membership encompasses more than 200 companies, universities, and government laboratories.

Known internationally for her work in the development of environmentally friendly solvents, Brennecke has served as a faculty member in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering since 1989.
