Flynn’s Paper Named One of Most Highly Cited

A paper authored by A.K. Jain, M. Murty, and Patrick J. Flynn, professor of computer science and engineering, has been cited as one of the most downloaded articles in computer science by several sources. The August 2004 on-line issue of Communications of the ACM lists the paper, titled “Data Clustering: A Review,” as the fourth most downloaded article from computing surveys and the second most downloaded article during its original publication year, 1999.

CiteSeer lists it as the 23rd most frequently cited article in its publication year with 154 citations, and ISI Web of Science lists 130 citations for the paper.

Flynn was also recently named a Kaneb faculty fellow by the University’s Kaneb Center for Teaching and Learning in recognition of his expertise in the field of computer science. As a Kaneb faculty fellow for the 2004-05 academic year, Flynn will share his teaching abilities and experiences with other faculty through workshops, discussion groups, and individual consultations.
