Izaguirre
Named 2005 Outstanding Teacher by College of Engineering
The first faculty award for outstanding teaching was presented in 1977
to celebrate 100years of engineering at Notre Dame. This year the College
of Engineering is pleased to honor Jesus A. Izaguirre, assistant professor
of computer science and engineering, as the Teacher of the Year. Since
joining the University in 1999, Izaguirre has earned the admiration of
students and fellow faculty for his teaching style, as well as his commitment
to spending time with students away from the classroom. Students describe
him as “an extremely approachable teacher who is always receptive
and willing to help.” In addition to his instruction, students
value the way he consistently integrates his faith into the learning
process, reinforcing the special obligation and opportunity that engineers
and the University have in the global community.
