Tau
For the second year in a row, a Notre Dame student
has won the 2005 Great Lakes Region Award from Sigma Gamma Tau, the aerospace
engineering honor society. Senior Michael Lisman from
Wilkes-Barre, Penn., was honored as one of the top eight outstanding seniors
studying aerospace engineering. The annual award is based upon academic
achievements, community service, and extracurricular activities.
Lisman’s research focuses on engineering acoustics. He has served
on the department’s student advisory board and is a member of Tau Beta
Pi, the national engineering honor society, and the American Institute of
Aeronautics and Astronautics.
His extracurricular activities have included intramural
sports, serving on his dorm’s hall council, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity
and the Early Child Development Center at Notre Dame, and working as a student
tutor for the University’s First Year of Studies program. Upon graduation,
he plans to work in Chicago with an investment bank.
